US planning ways to capture or kill Jihadi John
US Attorney General Eric Holder said Friday that his government was "working on" ways to capture or kill "Jihadi John," the Islamic State extremist who has appeared in several hostage-beheading videos. He was named Thursday as Mohammed Emwazi, 27 a British subject of Kuwait origin who had lived in northwest London and studied at Westminster University. This terrorist was detained at least once in 2010 by British anti-terrorism officials and released.
Holder would not confirm this identification, insisting that nothing would be "served" by outing him. However DEBKAfile sources reveal that US intelligence actually leaked Jihadi John’s identity to embarrass the British government in anger over its passive role in the war on ISIS.
