US Sen. Graham calls for slower, smarter US withdrawal from Syria
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham told a news conference in Ankara on Saturday that the US withdrawal from Syria must be “slower and smarter” to avoid setting of a broader war and a nightmare for Turkey. Speaking after a long meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, he said: “I can understand the desire to withdraw, but withdrawal without a plan is chaos. It would be Iraq on steroids,” the senator said, referring to the ascent of ISIS after the US left Iraq in 2011.
