US Sen Lindsey Graham to meet PM Netanyahu on Golan

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is to meet US Senator Lindsey Graham Monday  on the Golan to continue his drive to procure international recognition of Israel’s sovereignty over the strategic enclave. On Sunday, the South Carolina senator, accompanied by Ambassador David Friedman, entered a Hamas terror tunnel on the Israeli-Gaza border along with IDF Gaza division commander Brig. Gen. Eliezer Toledano.
Sen. Lindsey later tweeted: “…The tunnels have been used by groups like Hamas to smuggle weapons and terrorize Israeli citizens.” And Ambassador Friedman: “Cost of tunnel = cost of 2 new schools = cost of 30 new homes. #Hamas consistently makes the wrong choices for the people of #Gaza. Heartbreaking.”

Israel will never give its land to Syria.

The ancient kingdom of Israel, and later the Hashmonite kingdom of Israel, held the Golan heights between 928 BC and 575 BC, and again between 103 BC to 63 BC (for a total of about 500 years).

Syria held part of the Golan heights from its inception in 1945 and the remainder of the Golan heights from 1947 when it invaded the new state of Israel and captured some territory, and occupied it until the six day war in 1967 . So between 20 to 22 years. Not long…hardly “centuries”.

Israel has held the major part of the Golan heights since it liberated it from Arab hands in 1967 until today (52 years in all). some small parts of the Golan heights are still held by Syria today.

So, Yes – Israel has held most of the Golan for a much longer period than Syria. It is Israeli and will stay that way unless a better army takes it away…I’d like to see that (two-fingered salute)

Forgot to mention… The actual name …Golan is a Hebrew name also used by the Syrians for the Heights. It’s mentioned in the Bible and the Golan Heights were continuously populated with Jews, many times since biblical era.
