US Senate holds off tougher sanctions for Kerry’s Iran report
The Senate is waiting to hear Secretary of State John Kerry’s report on the failed nuclear talks in Geneva before approving increased sanctions against Iran. Kerry will report to the Senate Banking Committee Wednesday behind closed doors. He is expected to ask the senators to wait a bit longer for the outcome of resumed talks on Nov. 20 before pushing through the additional sanctions against Iran's energy and financial sectors already approved by the House. The tougher sanctions have bipartisan support in the Senate.
