US: Sony hacking attack is “severe security incident”
Sony Pictures Entertainment pulled the Dec. 25 release of “the Interview”, a comedy depicting the fictional assassination of Northern Korean leader Kim Jong-un, after hackers attacked its systems in support of their demand to cancel the release. “Given the destructive efforts or effects of this attack, we're treating this as a national security matter, and as such, members of the president's national security team have been in regular meetings regarding this attack,” State Department Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Friday.
