US to withdraw from landmark global climate accord: reports

Reports on Wednesday afternoon said that the US intends to pull out of the 2015 global climate accord aimed at reducing global warming, and has already set up a team that is preparing for the withdrawal. The reports came after President Donald Trump declined to endorse the pact during the G7 summit over the weekend. He had vowed during the presidential election campaign that, if elected, he would pull the US out of the accord within his first 100 days. Under the 2015 deal, the US, the world's second-largest emitter of carbon dioxide, is supposed to reduce its emission of fossil fuels by 26 to 28 percent compared with 2005 levels.
