US withdraws involvement, $200m in aid, from northwestern Syria

The Trump administration announced Saturday that all US involvement in northwestern Syria is at an end, barring humanitarian assistance, since the region has been cleared of ISIS. This area includes Idlib which is still under rebel control and is surrounded by Russian, Syrian and Turkish forces, as well as Afrin which is under Turkish occupation up to Aleppo. The administration said the money could be more usefully spent in other parts of the country
