Verdict due in ex-FM Lieberman’s graft case
At 0900 hours local time Wednesday a Jerusalem court is due to hand down its tensely awaited verdict in the case of Avigdor Lieberman, head of the right-of center Yisrael Beitenu, who stepped down as foreign minister last January when indicted on charges of fraud and breach of trust. If he is acquitted, he is free to return to his post as foreign minister, which Binyamin Netanyahu held as caretaker. If he is judged guilty, it depends whether moral turpitude is attached to the conviction. This could stall his career in public office for some years.
