Vice President Harris joins President Biden in US condolences to Israel
“The United States stands with the people of Israel… in mourning the terrible tragedy at Mount Meron, in which 45 people lost their lives including American citizens,” President Joe Biden said in a message to PM Binyamin Netanyahu on Friday. Vice President Kamala Harris added her voice in a special message.
Netanyahu thanked US and the other world leaders for their messages of condolence, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as those coming from Europe, Bahrain and the United Emirates.
The US embassy and State Department is to provide all the necessary support for the families of at least 6 Americans who lost their lives in the disaster. Most were youngsters in their teens. The Israeli Consulate in New York has contacted all the families of those killed in the tragedy and made “special arrangements” for those wanting to travel to Israel, so as to cut short COVID-19 procedures
El Al has offered two free tickets (except for port tax) to first-degree relatives of those killed in the disaster living in the United States, England, France or any other country from which El Al runs direct flights to Israel.
