‘Violent Islamist’ suspects arrested in Berlin ahead of Obama speech
German police said Wednesday that four men with "violent Islamist" backgrounds were among nine suspects arrested in Berlin early in the morning as the German capital prepared for several large-scale events over the next few days. None of the suspects are linked to Monday's bombing at Britain's Manchester Arena, according to the police. Security is being ramped up with about 100,000 visitors expected for a number of events including the German Cup football final at the city's Olympic Stadium and a speech by former US President Barack Obama at Brandenburg Gate.
