Virginia shooting targeting Republican congressmen leaves 5 wounded
At least five people including conservative Republican Rep. Steve Scalise, the majority whip of the US House of Representatives, were wounded Wednesday when a gunman opened fire on a Republican congressional baseball team during an early-morning practice near Washington. Among the five are a congressional aide and two policemen.
In a tweet on Wednesday following the multiple shooting, US President Donald Trump said the congressman, "a true friend and patriot, was badly injured but will fully recover. Our thoughts and prayers are with him."
