Washington challenges UN Secy on Palestinian ICC credentials
Washington said Wednesday that the US would oppose the Palestinian move to join the International Criminal Court. “Palestine is not a state and therefore does not technically qualify for membership,” of the ICC and several other UN bodies, said spokeswoman Jen Psaki. Tuesday night, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced acceptance of the Palestinian Authority’s membership application to the ICC, stating “the statute will enter into force for the State of Palestinian on April 1, 2015.”
