Washington threatens unilateral response to Pyongyang’s nuke test
Senior American diplomat Sung Kim, who previously served as his country's envoy for talks with North Korea, said Saturday that Washington is considering strong unilateral sanctions as well as trilateral cooperation with Japan and South Korea against Pyongyang over its fifth nuclear test that was carried out on Friday. Sung made the statement at a press conference in Tokyo following talks on the issue with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida. On Friday, in a step initiated by Britain, France and the US, the UN Security Council announced that it is preparing a plan for the intensification of sanctions against the North.
