We cannot deny anti-Semitism is on the rise: Obama
Ceremonies were held around the globe on Wednesday to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the anniversary of the 1945 liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, amid growing concerns over the scourge of anti-Semitism.
Speaking at an annual ceremony to posthumously award medals to non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust, US President Barack Obama said "anti-Semitism is on the rise, we cannot deny it." He added that "any attack on any faith is an attack on all our faiths," stating "we are all indeed Jews. We have a responsibility, and as president I will make sure the US is leading the fight against anti-Semitism." The ceremony, held for the first time in the United States, took place at the Israeli embassy in Washington.
