WHO Director: Coronavirus pandemic will be over in under two years

Speaking in Geneva on Friday, the head of the World Heath Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the Spanish flu of 1918 took two years to overcome, but the current advances in technology could halt the coronavirus “in a shorter time.” The WHO director commented: “Of course, with more connectiveness, the virus has a better chance of spreading, but at the same time, we have also the technology to stop it,” he said.

The coronavirus has so far killed almost 800,000 people worldwide compared with the deadly Spanish flu of 1918 that left 50 million dead.

In Israel, infection crossed the hundred thousand mark on Saturday, climbing to 100,716 including 22,122 active cases of whom 390 are in serious condition/ The death toll rose to 809.
