Who perpetrated the multiple terror assault on Paris?
It was most likely a joint Al Qaeda-Islamic State operation, say DEBKAfile’s counterterrorism sources, in the absence of any official French attribution to any group of the coordinated suicide assault on the French capital Friday night that claimed more than 120 lives in six locations. This reaction indicates: a) that French security and intelligence forces were totally stunned by the outrage. A horrified President Francois Hollande at the scene of the Bataclan theater hostage atrocity named no group as responsible, while President Barack Obama in a vague statement offered France all possible assistance for bringing the guilty parties to justice; and b) that official French circles knew that the Al Qaeda and ISIS in Paris were working together. Al Qaeda’s leader Ayman al-Zuwahiri, after a long silence, recently issued a call to all Muslims to unite for joint operations on the scale of the 9.11 attacks on the US.
