World leaders head for non-aligned summit in Tehran
As Western officials insist on Iran’s growing isolation by sanctions over its nuclear program, world leaders start arriving in Tehran for the summit of the 118-nation Non-Aligned Organization opening Sept. 26. Some of them, including Egyptian and Indian leaders, are lining up for one-on-one meetings with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Palestinian Hamas prime minister of the Gaza Strip Ismail Haniyeh received a special invitation. UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon said he would attend the summit in the face of protests from Washington and other capitals.
