Ya’alon: Even if Assad falls, Syria will be left in chaos
“We can’t see any conclusion to the current situation with or without Assad,” said Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy Friday. “The worst outcome is a chaotic solution,” said the minister. “But we can manage it.” He added: "Whether it will remain as a political entity, or divided into sectarian enclaves with sectarian leadership, or whether in chaos for a very long period of time … all of us should look to our interests." Ya'alon was scheduled to meet with US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel Friday p.m. for an in-flight demonstration of the MV-22 Osprey. Israel became in April the first foreign country to agree to purchase the tilt-rotor aircraft.
