Yanukovych declares a truce after Obama warns of consequences

The White House condemned the violence in the Ukraine in the strongest possible terms Wednesday and warned President Viktor Yanukovych of “consequences if people step over the line.” The Ukraine president responded by declaring a truce in Kiev and the start of talks with the opposition. The US warning came after the Ukraine president sacked the chief of staff amid reports that he was preparing to call in the army to break up the protest which claimed at least 26 lives in clashes with the police overnight Tuesday.
