Yemeni separatists seize control of Aden

In a major split in the coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthi insurgency, troops of the UAE-backed separatist Southern Transitional Council (STC) Monday seized control of the port city of Aden from the Saudi-backed government, after occupying the presidential palace. Yemen’s President Adrabbuh Mansour Hadi lives in the Saudi capital of Riyadh. The Saudi-led camp called Aden’s seizure a coup and threatened military action against the separatists. Until the Aden split, the two camps fought together against the Iran-backed Houthis.

Yemen is prime for a breakup. The Houthi rebel group in the north of the country, and the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the south. Adrabbuh Mansour Hadi corrupt government going to have to win some battles to survive.
