Neither Israel nor US has the capacity to counter Iran’s new cruise missile

The new Hoveizeh cruise missile with a range of 1,350km was tested on Saturday, Feb. 2, as Iran’s answer to the successful Israeli-US Arrow-3 missile test on Jan. 22, DEBKAfile’s military sources report.

Iran has made rapid strides towards developing a medium-range missile for attacking Israel in three test launches in recent weeks. In the first, on Dec. 29, a Fajr 5 was aimed at central Israel; three weeks later, on Jan. 21, a Fatteh 100 was fired towards the Golan (and was intercepted); and in the last one, marking the 40th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, a cruise missile was hailed by Iranian Defense Minister Amir Hatami as accurately hitting its intended target at 1,200 km. This is the distance from Iran to Israel.

By test number three, the Hoveizeh, which belongs to the Soumar family of cruise missiles, Iran demonstrated that, while the Israel’s Defense Ministry Research Administration and the US Missile Defense Agency were intent on developing missiles capable of striking targets outside earth’s atmosphere, the Islamic Republic had succeeded in producing low-flying cruise missiles that fly to target under their radar. Iran is confident that neither the United States nor Israel has the answer to this threat. And indeed, say our military experts, no military force in the world has so far found an effective means of intercepting cruise missiles before they strike, unless they are of short range.

Cruise missiles can hug mountains and hills and dip into valleys, thereby evading the radars of counter-missile systems.  Because of these assets, the US has used Tomahawk cruise missiles for attacks in Syria and other parts of the world; the Russians use Kalibr-NKs and Israel, the Delilah, which has a range of 250km, and which the Syrian army and the Russian forces based in Syria have not been able to intercept. Israel also has cruise missiles of other types.

The closest answer to cruise missiles may be provided by US nuclear aircraft carrier strike groups, due to the blanket of concentrated radar, sensors and data processing systems thrown up over a vast area by this heavy concentrations of warships, surveillance planes and fighter-bombers. Even this capacity is limited to wide stretches of sea while ineffective against cruise missiles over land.

Therefore, the successful test of the Hoveizeh cruise missile is highly significant despite western attempts to play it down. When Brig, Gen. Hatami was appointed Defense Minister in September 2017, DEBKAfile characterized him as an enthusiast of ballistic and cruise missile development and an ardent admirer of the Al Qods chief Brig. Gen. Qassem Soleimani. The Hoveizeh provides Soleimani, supreme commander of Iran’s Middle East war fronts, with a powerful new weapon.

It would seem advantageous for the Israeli government to buy newspaper space in the NY Times with descriptive narratives of each and every Iranian military announcement contrary to the letter and spirit of the bogus and self-serving Obama/Kerry “Iranian Nuclear Treaty”. Ultimately, Americans will feel homeland pain owing to that evil duo.

‘advantageous for the Israeli government to buy newspaper space in the NY Times’

The NY Times ARE the Emmanuel Goldstein-narrators for the Israeli government – 2 parts of 1 whole.

1 torso, 2 hands. This should not bewilder the wise

2 halves of the same Undzer Shtik whole – domination of the faux opposition to Big Brother was the Big Brother-Goldstein Con, their Shtik.

The Undzer Shtik Con was that they were different

It’s the ‘Big Brother – Emmanuel Goldstein’ dynamic duo – just like Orwell said in 1984

The NYTimes is getting dragged right along with Israel now – it’s like that Brazilian mudslide lifting all boats

Don’t you get it? – it’s the same Sayanim Sea, the con Orwell so marvelously illuminated was specifically that they were the SAME CON. Don’t you get it?

OneTribe living in 2 Villages. It never was Emmanuel versus Big Brother – the con Orwell busted was that they were the SAME pretending to be Two

      One body, two arms.

Big Brother and Emmanuel Goldstein are the SAME GANG – Orwell said it – this should not be a source of confusion.

Honestly, the stunning lack of basic comprehension of one’s own con is unforgivable. Howz that gonna work?

Emmanuel Goldstein and Big Brother ARE the Undzer Shtik – they always were and they always will be until gone.

That was what Orwell was after – the end of the Big Brother Goldstein-Undzer Shtik hustle/con job.

Oh yeah – Orwell WROTE 1984 to bust the Undzer Shtik, specifically

      You’re welcome

One hand of the Undzer Stik washing the other – that’s how mobs work

The Mob has to control the press, to be the press, in order to run the con, that’s how they’ve come so far and that’s why Orwell hated them.

Same thing the NY Times did with the Holodomor

Walter Duranty, an apologist for Lazar Kaganovich’s Holodomor

Big Brother Lazar Kaganovich – Walter ‘Emmanuel’ Duranty – oh yes, the NYTimes knows what it’s been doing.

        same thing across the pond

Big Brother Neocons – New York ‘Emmanuel’ Times – same thing as Kaganovich and Duranty

Same with the Iraq War, same with the support of Clean Break plans on Iran. The New York Times Emmanuel Goldsteins cheerleading all the way

When America develops an offensive weapon at the same time it is making a defensive weapon to be able to counter it. Cruise Missiles are already obsolete. They are effective and will continue to be used. However, they can defended with the right know how, and that comes from those that creat3ed them in the first place.

Ski Resort Strikes? Bwahaha – can’t make up hasbara this lame, for that you need the experts

Following Napoleon’s dictum of not getting in the way of trainwrecking Netanyahu, Solemani was mature enough to just absorb all the desperate incitement and ad hominem – he knows exactly what’s coming down the pike for Israel and is just staying out of Israel’s way as the Zugswang and Checkmates take their toll

The Syrian S300 batteries have also wisely kept their powder bone dry as the magic potions working their ways thru Netanyahu takes their full effect.

The wisdom of this approach is now stunningly evident. Letting nature take it’s course with both Netanyahu and Trump both

Mandelblit and Mueller himself are doing their work on Netanyahu now – Brilliant moves all the way around from Russia, Syria, and Iran

The world is waiting on Mandelblit now. Mueller is waiting for the imminent Mandelblit’s detonations – it’ll be cleaner that way and Mueller will bat cleanup after Mandelblit’s Cases 1000, 2000, and 4000

Netanyahu is going under before Trump bites it – and even Trump has turned on Bad News Netanyahu now

Trump finally has Bibi’s number. In the World’s Greatest Stiff to Trump, Netanyahu can’t even throw Trump a bone, let alone anything to save him

Netanyahu is Trump’s problem, not any kind of a solution or help anymore.

Trump is openly hostile to Netanyahu now, as Netanyahu is the reason Trump is getting impeached. Hence the Syrian withdrawal, the Peace Plan disaster for the Apartheid, the wasted ‘7 Trillion Wasted Speech’ on Israel, etc, all in the face of the Greatest Stiff to Trump he’s ever seen. Whoops

Let Mandelblit and Mueller do the work – why lift your skirt and show your junk to the IAF?

Mueller’s indictments of Netanyahu’s co-conspirators Kushner (over the Netanyahu participating UN 2334 encryption/conspiracy), co-conspirators Don Trump, Jr (over the Netanyahu ordered rigging of the 2016 Presidential election), Mossad/Private Mossad Front Ops* on the Obama Iran Team/Ben Rhodes, as well as other Netanyahu nailing charges, are in the pipeline

Mandelblit is being currently reported in TOI as guaranteeing a conviction on the charges he’s bringing

If it is true that Mandelbilt has stated that – it shows extreme bias, and poisoning the jury pool. If he believes that, he should withhold any comment until his official announcement is made. Even you, might understand that. Why have a ‘justice system’ at all? A Star Chamber is a lot more efficient for the new totalitarians.

Dont even mention “mueller” – that farce is now so well beyond any realm of credibility, that the mere fact you present it as an authentic investigation is totally ridiculous, indicating your “brown shirt” mentality. Not worth wasting more words elaborating further. Real push back is so long overdue against you people.

Iran at this age is similar to the Russians in the sixties and seventies. Same tactics would bring them down like they brought down Red Russia. So Nato, US and Israel’s collaboration is necessary. A snap shot of the situation now with Iran and a snap shot of what it was at the break of US-Iran deal tells us US was not successful in managing the Iranian’s threats. They need to come down like Communist Russia went down.

      not exactly.

the mullahs’ endgame is apocalypse. unlike the fsu, they do not expect to conquer the world, or survive the next war. they expect to be resurrected after the “mahdi” climbs out of a well after 700 years. which means that deterrence will not work, and the mullahs feel even less obligation to the welfare of their people than the hardline communists did.

It is true, that as of today, cruise missiles, at least over land, are difficult to destroy. The reason for this lies, to a degree, with the difficulty in detecting them. However, it is also difficult to attack them using even airborne missiles or cannons. Ground based weapons have an even greater limitation. In theory, if detected by an airborne radar that can feed that information to a ground based missile system, then the ground based system can use that data to track and attack the cruise missile particularly if the final intercept phase is done using the intercepting missiles own onboard radar. In the not too distant future, airborne lasers will make this task much easier in that the moment the inbound cruise missile is detected a laser can be aimed at it and destroy it. Compared to the speed of the laser beam the cruise missile will appear to be standing still. The US intends to field combat lasers on airborne platforms in the early 2020s. Therefore, if Iran intends to use this weapon, they have a narrow window of time during which this cruise missile technology will remain effective.

Not being funny or anything. But these Iranians, Russians are quite modest and impressive as a possible enemy. Considering the west is ment to have all the money and technology. Iran/Russia etc have been doing well within there own spheres of national interests also. I think the west seems to be losing there way a bit these days. Supposedly the Iranians themselves are actually quite nice people as a population of nationals.

” and which the Syrian army and the Russian forces based in Syria have not been able to intercept.”
This a big lie and misinformation from author of the article” In recent attack by the US and allies 71 out of 103 missiles fired including Tomahawk cruise missiles were intercepted. Recently just last month Syria intercepted
Israeli 30 missiles including Delilah missiles and of the first Tommahawk missiles fired at Syria more than 40 missiles were intercepted out of 59.

That was the claim from the Russians and from Damascus. Note that there was no independent confirmation of this. Plus, even if true, that meant that out or 103 fired 28 got through. Depending on the size and nature of the warhead, that is still a lot of damage being done. Frankly, I don’t believe the Russian and Syrian claims.
