Nuclear watchdog chief: Iran wants nuclear weapon for recognition as major power

Dr. Mohammed ElBaradei said Wednesday, June 17: “it is my gut feeling that Iran would like to have the technology to enable it to have nuclear weapons – both as a message to their neighbors and the world, don’t mess with us” and as the road to the prestige of being recognized as a major Middle East power.
The IAEA chief called for engagement with Iran to remove its incentive for making a bomb.
Israel’s Mossad chief, Meir Dagan predicted Tuesday that Iran would have a nuclear bomb and the means of delivery in five years barring technical glitches.
President Barack Obama said over TV there is not much difference between the policies of incumbent president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his defeated challenger Mir Hossein Mousavi. While avoiding the appearance of meddling in Iran’s domestic affairs, the US president remains determined to go ahead with his planned dialogue with Tehran.
