Pro-al Qaeda, racist, anti-Jewish Abu Hamza, former imam of the Finsbury Park mosque in London, found guilty of most of the 15 charges against him
An English jury convicted him of six counts of soliciting to murder, 4 counts of threatening words or behavior, one of possessing tapes of speeches stirring up racial hatred and a document useful to terrorists. He was jailed for seven years. Thousands of the notorious imam’s taped speeches encouraged believers to kill non-believers, especially Jews, who were described as treacherous and dirty. On one, he said Adolf Hitler was put on earth to kill Jews.
During his tenure, the Finsbury Mosque served as an al Qaeda recruiting station. The two Tel Aviv Mike’s Place bombers who killed 3 Israelis and injured 60 in 2003 were among the notorious worshippers at the London mosque. Like shoe bomber Richard Reid, the British pair, Asif Muhammad and Omar Sharif took final explosives training from Hamas experts in Gaza. Another worshipper was Zacarias Moussaoui, now on trial in the US in connection with the 9/11 plot.
US has applied for his extradition on further charges, including facilitating terrorism, trying to set up a training camp in Oregon and terrorism in the Middle East.
