Russia’s 8 military Golan positions – problematic for Israeli security. Hizballah creeps ever closer

The Russian decision to set up 8 military positions along the Syrian-Israeli Golan border will impede rather than help consolidate security on Israel’s northern front – in more ways than one:

  • The positions will be manned by Chechen recruits in Russian uniforms. (By the law of Chechnya, nationals are barred from fighting in foreign wars.)
  • They will serve alongside UNDOF monitors in the buffer zone without legal status. The presence of foreign forces is not covered in the 1974 Israel-Syrian disengagement agreement which created the buffer zone. The agreement was extended by the UN Security council a month ago.
  • This may be a mere formality until they are called into action. How and on behalf of which party they respond are moot questions.
  • What will Israel’s government and military decision-makers do if the Russian orders to their unit run contrary to Israel’s security interests – or, still worse, impede Israeli operations against aggressors? The Israeli Air Force, for instance, may be tied down from striking terrorists in the buffer zone by fear of Russian policemen getting in the way.
  • And what will happen if the IDF needs to cross into the buffer zone to terminate illicit Hizballah or pro-Iranian Shiite militia incursions? DEBKAfile’s military sources stress that these are not just hypothetical situations; they are already real, although Israel’s national leaders are keeping their intrusion under wraps. This is because they accepted the Russian police monitors without stipulating the prior removal from the buffer zone of all Hizballah and Shiite forces deployed there by Iranian Revolutionary Guards officers.
  • On Aug. 1, Russian Presidential Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev sold Sputnik News a fairy story. In deference to Israel’s concerns, he said “We have managed to achieve the pullback of Iranian units to within 85km from the border.” World media parroted this tale as solemn truth without checking its authenticity. DEBKAfile’s military sources can assert after investigation that the Russian envoy was not only wide of the mark, but in the 48 hours since he spoke, Shiite and Hizballah forces have crept further west and taken up new positions that are several meters closer than before to the Israeli border.
  • Since Vladimir Putin’s senior adviser on Syria is so free with falsehoods, how can Israel risk entrusting its security in the Golan buffer zone to the hands of a Russian military police force?

When Russia, Syria and Iran carve up Syria to reward themselves, Russia will be given its port and other lucrative contracts but they will vacate the border regions which will become exclusively Iran- Hezbollah. So now is the time to make strong military moves to enforce red lines before they divide up Syria.

What the heck does France have to do with this? Is that your beef with Israel, you want a piece of the Crusader kingdom or something?

I think Israel is willing to make peace with Syria and Lebanon any time they want to accept it. Otherwise maybe one day their own territorial integrity will be threatened just as you threaten Israel’s, beyond what’s already in dispute.

The heck is about the two UN partitions, I think. Syria (including Golan) and Lebanon were parts of the French mandate. Golan was situated out of the territory the British Mandate given by the League of Nations. Golan was part of the French Mandate. I think he’s pointing to this, to highlight the idea of not opening old territorial disputes, and not going back to before WWII.

But, the French mandate ended in ’46 (1 year after UN was born) and in ’47 UN came with the concept of the Mandatory Palestine plan of partition. The territory under this plan included small portions of the previous French mandate (fact which was already irrelevant back in ’47) and most important: this time Golan was part of the established state of Syria. This was after WWII and your observation would be right.

But, there is another point here, the key word is “mandate”. Technically Gaza and West Bank are under Israel mandate. If so, what about Golan? I mean from an UN point of view…

Meanwhile Israel is booming with a ridiculously high GDP and credit rating upgraded. Gas finds, oil finds, Jews moving back and I nnovation like never before. All in this last decade. Hook in the Jaw!
Not if, but when they attack it won’t be to get rid of Israel or the Jews. It will be to plunder. And this trio will suffer a horrific loss.

Maybe Israel is waiting for an egregious provocation but to be fair, Israel has been on the offensive and dealing with the importation of advanced weapons on Syrian soil and Iranian positions in the target-rich environment of a Syria that has been destroyed by Islamic terror and war on their own people. This is a Muslim vs. Muslim war and Israel must make sure that it does not spread to Israel as it is shown becoming.

I think that Israel has to make clear, if it has not already done so, that they will not accept Iran-Hezbollah in Syria. Russia has said that it will not (or can not) do anything about the situation but I doubt the truth of that statement – they can but will not. They risk fighting Iran if they displease the fanatical fascist Islamic regime of the Ayatollah.

And their sucklings are dashed to pieces before their eyes, Spoiled are their houses, and their wives lain with.

Lo, I am stirring up against them the Medes, Who silver esteem not, And gold — they delight not in it.

        2. Proceed to Calneh and see, and go from there to the great Hamath, and go down to Gath of the Philistines-are they better than these kingdoms, or is their border greater than your border?

Putin doesn’t care about the oil and gas that Israel allegedly has ( isn’t that in dispute with Lebanon). However, their allies are, If he can help them they can help him. His goal is to get the US influence out of the Eastern hemisphere. There is no reason for Russia to not have better relations with Eastern Europe and Europe in general. The United States and Britain is the hindrance to that, although Britain may side more with Russia on the Israeli issue. Putin has done a very good job so far. Russia has a very good opportunity to have the largest economy in Europe by 2050. This could blow up into a World War, it depends on the USA or Israel. If it does then if these are the events (and time frame) that leads to the Second coming of our Lord then the USA and the Israeli’s have big problem. Netanyahu really doesn’t have too many ways to go, just try to survive.

The Muslim connection to Jerusalem is extremely tenuous compared to Judaism and Christianity. In fact, the claim to the city exists largely because it is held sacred by Western religion. From the time of Muhammad to the present day, Islam has always been a “me too” faith, attempting to ride the coattails of other religions.

The official reason that Muslims claim Jerusalem for themselves – after marching an army into the city only two years after Muhammad’s death – is that their prophet once visited there…

Unfortunately this would have been in a dream – not in real life. As much as those demanding full control of Jerusalem today would prefer, there is simply no evidence that Muhammad’s physical body ever made the trip.

There is certainly ample evidence that Muhammad claimed to have had a dream about traveling there. It also came at a time that was trying to convince the doubters around him that he belonged to the line of Jewish prophets. His story of leading other prophets (Abraham, Moses and Jesus) in prayer at the mosque in Jerusalem was thus highly convenient (in truth no mosque had ever existed there).

Aisha, Muhammad’s favorite wife, later insisted that it was not a physical journey (Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 265) and there has always been controversy within Islam about whether it was supposed to have been a physical or “spiritual” visit.

At the time, the Meccans mocked Muhammad for claiming to have visited Jerusalem in one night, since it was a one month journey to get there and back. In fact, “many Muslims gave up their faith” when they heard this, according to his biographer (Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 265). But had the Meccans known how big the universe really is, they would have reserved the greatest ridicule for Muhammad’s claim to have visited the gates of heaven in the same dream – and it is doubtful that anyone would have believed him at that point.

The observable universe is 93 billion light years wide, meaning that it takes 93 billion years to make it from one side to the other even traveling at the speed of light. In “Leaving Islam” by Ibn Warraq, a young contributor points out that if Muhammad had left the (non-existent) mosque in Jerusalem 1400 years ago, traveling at this phenomenal speed through the icy void of space, he would still be trying to make it out of our galaxy (p. 347). At this point, Muslims (who claim that theirs is the most “scientific” of religions) fall back on the idea that Muhammad visited Jerusalem “in spirit”… whatever that means.

To prove his claim, a nervous Muhammad gave a general description of the city “from above” to Abu Bakr, who “verified” it to be true. Muhammad shouldn’t have worried about his most faithful apostle, at least, since Abu Bakr had already pledged his loyalty to whatever his prophet had to say: “If he says it, then it is true.” (Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 265).

Abu Bakr’s gullibility was legendary. Not only did he hand over his own 6-year-old daughter in “marriage” at Muhammad’s request, but his prophet even got him to believe in talking cows at one point:

Once Allah’s Apostle; offered the morning prayer and then faced the people and said, “While a man was driving a cow, he suddenly rode over it and beat it. The cow said, “We have not been created for this, but we have been created for sloughing.” On that the people said astonishingly, “Glorified be Allah! A cow speaks!” The Prophet said, “I believe this, and Abu Bakr and ‘Umar too, believe it, although neither of them was present there. (Bukhari 56:677)

Obviously, those who believe Muhammad’s claim to have traveled to Jerusalem either in body or in spirit rely on blind faith rather than common sense. He was also known to use the veil of sleep to make other grandiose claims about himself, once insisting”while I was sleeping, the keys to the treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand” (Bukhari 52:220).

Even though he may never have traveled to Jerusalem before his “dream”, it is quite likely that Muhammad heard descriptions of the city from traders who had been there, particularly since he was known to seek out story tellers on his business trips.

There is simply no compelling reason to believe that Muhammad’s dream was anything other than that.

In in 614 in the belief that a restoration was in in their grasp, the Jews bought Khazar and other mercenaries, made an alliance with the Persians and had them invade Palestine , they overwhelmed the Byzantine garrison in Jerusalem, and made Jewish Exilarch Nehemiah ben Hushiel governor of Jerusalem. Within months he was killed by a mob and Christians revolted against Persian rule and to appease them the Persians gave them a Christian governor. For five years they struggled to maintain their grip on the city and eventually the Persians overextended pulled out and the Zionist suffered a great setback. At this point the jewish nationalists to garner support from the religious jews introduced their false prophet Mohammad as a type of militant Elijah the Prophet but he was eventually rejected by the jewish orthodoxy when Moshaich ben Dovid failed to make his entrance. Thereafter a new jewish religion began to evolve which we now see today metamorphosed as Islam. At this juncture we have the formation of two new orthodoxies, that of Ashkenasi replacement theology judaism and that of Islam.
