Meshaal remarked: “US policies have failed in dealing with regional problems and most obviously Iraq.” A wave of opposition has arisen against US policies in the region, Asia and Europe, he declared. The Hamas leader reiterated the Hamas commitment to “liberate all the occupied lands” including Jerusalem and praised the Islamic Republic’s positions on the “usurper regime of Israel.”
Meshaal, whose headquarters are based in Damascus, announced Saturday that Hamas would not renew its informal truce with Israel beyond this year and was preparing for “a new round of conflict.”
Ahmadinejad’s previous calls to wipe Israel off the map and “cleanse Palestine” by relocating the Jewish state in Europe were roundly condemned by the UN Security Council and world leaders.
