debkafile’s military sources: The Palestinian Qassam missile offensive will redeploy from the northern Gaza Strip to the south if it is balked
This was decided by Jihad Islami, Fatah-al Aqsa Brigades and the Popular Resistance committees in consultation with Hamas following the enforcement of Israel’s no-go zone. Then, they will aim their fire at Nahal Oz, Kfar Azza, Kibbutz Saad, Alumim and Beeri instead of Sderot and Ashkelon. Israel has so far directed only low-intensity artillery fire at the launching sites.
An armed Palestinian preparing to shoot a Qassam missile was injured by Israeli artillery fire Wednesday night. An earlier missile was aimed at Sderot at 6 p.m. local time just when IDF instituted its no-go zone in the northern Gaza Strip. No one hurt. The Palestinian Authority was warned that any person entering the zone did so at his own risk.
Operation “Blue Skies” follows daily Palestinian Qassam missile attacks on surrounding Israeli locations and the failure of PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas to stop the shooting. Jihad Islami Wednesday rejected his appeal to cease the missile fire. Washington justifies Israel’s response to the Palestinian attacks but regrets the decision to enforce a security zone in northern Gaza.
