Palestinian sources reported that a Hamas commander and five others were killed in an IDF special forces attack Sunday night, Nov. 11, near Khan Younes in the southern Gaza Strip. One source identified the target as a brigade commander of the Hamas Ezz-e din al-Qassam armed wing, who was killed by Israeli air and drone strikes. A fierce firefight then erupted between the Israeli force and Hamas. There are initial unconfirmed reports of Israeli casualties. The IDF later denied rumors of an Israeli soldier missing or kidnapped. The spokesman said the entire force returned to Israel under close air cover. The first rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip and intercepted by Iron Dome after residents of Sderot, and the Eshkol and Shear Hanegev councils were instructed to stay indoors close to bomb shelters and fortified spaces. The Homeland Command has cancelled school in those areas on Monday. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is cutting short his stay in Paris and returning home overnight Sunday.
