Army takes Egypt’s Islamist TV channels off the air

Military authorities shut down the Muslim Brotherhood’s TV channel Misr 25 and two other channels, Al-Hafiz and Al-Nas, affiliated to the strict Salafi movement, shortly after announcing the dismissal of President Mohamed Morsi Wednesday night. They also raided Al Jazeera’s Egyptian news channel and detained five of its staff. Four were later released.
