Assad’s forces launch new assault on rebels in Latakia area

Syrian army troops, backed by Russian airstrikes and artillery attacks, launched a ground assault against rebel positions in the Latakia area on Wednesday morning. The two sides accuse each other of breaking the cease-fire that went into effect last weekend and restarting the battle for Kabani hill, a strategic area that overlooks rebel-controlled Idlib.
