Coronavirus outbreak in N. Italy claims 7 lives

North Italy is suffering Europe’s first major coronavirus outbreak with 7 fatalities reported on Monday and 230 infected victims. Universities, schools and shopping centers are shuttered, including Milan’s annual fashion week. Israel’s health ministry advises citizens to avoid traveling to Italy at this time.

A second Israeli from among the Diamond Princess passengers has succumbed to the virus. Hundreds of people who were in contact with a visiting South Korean group of 39 pilgrims are in home quarantine, including hundreds of schoolchildren. All are so far in good health. Seoul has updated its first figure of 9 infected pilgrims to 30. The coronavirus eruption in Iran is a source of concern for all its neighbors, since the infection has no respect for frontiers.
