Former PM Olmert is released from jail
Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was released early Sunday morning from the Maasiyahu Prison after serving 16 months, or two thirds of his sentence, for corruption offenses. He drove in his official vehicle with a Shin Bet motor escort directly to his apartment in Tel Aviv. Olmert, the first Israeli prime minister to serve a prison sentence, had the conditions of his release read out to him before he was freed.
