French PM Valls joins race for president

Prime Minister Manuel Valls is expected to announce his run for president in next year’s election. He will seek to lead the left-wing Socialist bloc, after the incumbent, Francois Hollande, announced he would not seek a second term. Valls throws his hat in the ring against the Republican party’s former prime minister Francois Fillon and the far-left Marine Le Pen.
