Gideon Saar accuses Likud of missing its way under Netanyahu
Veteran Likud lawmaker Gideon Saar announced he was quitting Likud and creating a new right-wing party called Tikvah Hadashah (New Hope) with the aim of unseating and replacing Binyamin Netanyahu. He accused Likud of descending into “a tool in the service of the prime minister’s personality cult.” Saar surrendered his Knesset seat as number five on the Likud list and pledged to devote himself to the most urgent goal of “changing the government.”
