Iran kicks off naval maneuvers near Straits of Hormuz
The Iranian navy on Wednesday started a large-scale exercise between the Straits of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf and the northern part of the Indian Ocean. The "Veklayat 94" exercise is being led by the commander of Iran's fleet, Habibollah Sayyari, from the fleet command in Konarak in southern Iran, adjacent to the Gulf of Oman. According to the Iranian media, the exercise including warships, submarines, attack helicopters and small speedboats will practice defense of Iran's territorial waters from an "enemy invasion."
