Ismail Haniyah is new Hamas political bureau chief

Spokesman of Hamas, Fawzi Barhoum, said Saturday that the radical Islamic Palestinian movement had elected Ismail Haniyeh as head of its political office in place of the Qatar-based Khaled Meshaal.
Haniyeh is former prime minister of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip and deputy political chief.
