Israel’s Air Force has a new chief: Maj. Gen. Amikam Nurkin

The Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gady Eizenkot transferred command of the Israeli Force Friday to its new chief, Maj. Gen. Amikam Nurkin. He takes over from Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel who served in this post for five years. Nurkin, a former head of an air squadron and the Air Force command, was head of the IDF’s Planning Division in his last job. Eshel sheds his uniform after 40 years of military service. He said in his parting speech that the IAF is stronger than ever before and had laid the foundations for changes in Israel’s security doctrine. The incoming chief pledged to boost cooperation among the various IDF fighting arms.
