Lebanese PM Saad Hariri quits, deepening national crisis

Prime Minister Saad Hariri was the first Lebanese politician to give into the demands of the anti-government protesters to step down on Tuesday. He said he would tender his resignation to President Michel Aoun. However, in reference to the protesters’ demand for the entire corrupt government to quit, Hariri said in a sideswipe at Hizballah, “No one is bigger than their country.”

DEBKAfile, proper English grammar and meaning would require that you write “to give in to the demands”, not “to give into the demands”. The proper and correct, compound verb is “to give in”, not “to give into”.
