Netanyahu welcomes Liberian president in Jerusalem
Liberian President George Weah is making his first official visit to Israel, although he came privately in the past. Friday morning he was received by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at his home. Liberia has long voted in favor of Israel at international forums and maintained close ties with the Jewish state.

Liberia was created by Americans who wanted to offer African-Americans a homeland in Africa for those who wanted to return back to Africa after being freed from slavery in the U.S. The equivalent nation set up by the British was Sierra Leone for Africans who wanted to return back to Africa after being freed from slavery across the British Empire. Both of these countries were set up before Birobidzhan and Palestine was offered to the Jews.
