Obama suggests a deal with Iran is imminent
In an interview Sunday to CBS CBS News “Face the Nation” program, US President Barack Obama said gaps still remained for negotiators to bridge before a nuclear deal with Iran, but intimated that agreement on the framework accord was “imminent.” The deal he referred to would limit Iran’s capacity to enrich uranium so that it would take a year to break out to a bomb, time enough for international inspectors to verify violations. In exchange, the world powers would ease sanctions. The deal would last at least 10 years before its expiry. Obama’s comments were partly intended as a rejoinder to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s criticism of the deal.
