Search teams spot possible AirAsia flight debris
The Indonesian air force early Tuesday reported spotting pieces of debris floating in the Java Sea that may have come from the AirAsia QZ8501 flight missing since Sunday with 162 people aboard. They include a plane door and emergency slide. The pilots requested permission to climb to avoid storms just six minutes before vanishing.
The US navy will join the multi-national search operation on its third day and have reportedly sent USS Sampson to assist.
