Shin Bet thwarts Palestinian kidnap plot
Ten members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestinian were arrested in Ramallah and other West Bank towns before they could kidnap an Israeli as a bargaining chip for the release of their leader, Ahmad Sadaat. He was sentenced to jail for life for the assassination of the late Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavem Zeevi in 2001. The Israeli police and Shin Bet tracked the conspiracy through their attempt to buy guns from an arms merchant.
