The Jerusalem Day Flag Parade and its route are finalized
At a final conference on Friday, PM Naftali Bennett and security chiefs confirmed the conduct of the annual Flag Parade on Jerusalem Day Sunday and its controversial route through the Old City’s Muslim Quarter. The parade will end at the Western Wall and not enter Temple Mount. Bennett, Public Security Minister Omar Bar Lev and Police Chief Yakov Shabtai decided that routine activities on Temple Mount would continue without pause. Security has been boosted in the light of terrorist threats, including vows from Hamas and Islamic Jihad to counter with rocket fire from the Gaza Strip. Police and security forces are heavily reinforced in the capital and mixed Israeli-Arab towns and armed with crowd dispersal measures. The military air defense system is on standby around the Gaza Strip.
