Trump, Clinton maintain momentum, surge to victory in northeastern states
US Republican frontrunner Donald Trump continued his march toward the party’s nomination for president by winning primaries in five northeastern US states on Tuesday. Trump was the victor in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Delaware over rivals Ted Cruz and John Kasich. He took more than 54 percent of the vote in all five states, including nearly 64 percent in Rhode Island.
Meanwhile, Democrat Hillary Clinton remained on track to become her party’s nominee with primary wins in Maryland, where she received about 63 percent of the vote, as well as Connecticut, Delaware and Pennsylvania. Bernie Sanders was victorious in Rhode Island.
