Trump’s nominee for CIA chief confirmed, State wins committee
The US Senate confirmed President Donald Trump’s choice of Mike Pompeo as CIA Director, while the Foreign Relations Committee approved Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State, virtually assuring Senate confirmation.
The vote for Pompeo was 66 to 32, although Democrats raised concerns about his approach to torture, surveillance and Russia. Tillerson was narrowly approved 11-10 by the Republican-led Committee after Sen. Marco Rubio declared his support.
