UK PM Theresa May convenes new cabinet amid calls for her to step down

British Prime Minister Theresa May performed a light reshuffle of her cabinet as she fended off calls for her to resign over the Conservative party’s loss of its parliament majority in the early election which she called. She is conferring with the North Ireland Unionists to make up the numbers, as BREXIT negotiations with the European Union loom in the coming days. May holds a weakened hand in both sets of talks. Her rival, Labor’s Jeremy Corbyn, who claims credit for the party’s substantial gains in last week’s election, is waiting to jump in should the May government fall in a no-confidence vote – either in her party or parliament.
