US warship fires warning shots at approaching Iranian boats

A US warship, the USS Mahan,  was sailing through the Strait of Hormuz Monday, when Iranian boats approached at high speed. According to the Pentagon, the US warship repeatedly tried to contact the boats by radio, but there was initially no response, even after the crew used smoke deterrent and loud horns to warn the Iranian boats off. They continued to approach until warning shots were fired. No one was hurt in the incident. US vessels have been confronted before by Iranian naval forces.
