Zarif warns US of “consequences” for stopping Iran’s oil sales

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Wednesday that Iran “will continue to find buyers for its oil and use the Strait of Hormuz as a safe transit to transport it.” In a speech to the Asia Society in New York, Zarif said: “If the United States takes the crazy measure of trying to prevent us from doing that, then it should be prepared for the consequences,” without giving specifics. On Monday, the Trump administration announced the end of six months of waivers from sanctions granted to Iran’s eight biggest oil customers.
