A US senate majority blocks F-35 stealth planes to Turkey

A the last minute, by a large majority of 85 to 10, the US Senate blocked the sale of the advanced US F-35 stealth planes to Turkey until a detailed plan is presented to prove that Ankara would not have access to US technology for its home manufacture of components. This was one of Turkey’s conditions for purchasing 100 F-35 planes in a $10bn deal. First deliveries were due on June 21. A compelling argument against the sale was Turkey’s decision to buy sophisticated Russian S-400 air defense missile systems.

        Israel already has the F-35, moose-slime, and they will take out Istanbul, Baghdad and Tehran, if that becomes necessary!

          Try and see what happens. Beware, fighting Turks will be much different than fighting unarmed PA.

            I suppose Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and Jordan would beg to differ. But I suppose it’s easier to use sarcasm than focus on the facts.

    A smart decision has come out of Congress. Perhaps too much to expect more but worthwhile to hope for.

    Why would they want to sell to Erdogan? He is a enemy of the West and free people everywhere. Turkey should be behind Iran for weapons sale;

    Congress would rather gift Israel with a aircraft carrier for the Sea of Galilee, than sell F-35s to us?

      Your exremist leader changed teams and unfortunately destroyed your democracy. You get what you voted for. Just like Hitler was elected to power so was edrogan. He is an evil monster. For now they do not belong in NATO and should only be allowed back in once a sane leader is elected.

    Many of the comments are so irrational and uninformed that I wonder if the writers are drunk. So long as Turkey buys weapons systems from Russia, Turkey will not get sophisticated US weapons systems. If you cooperate with the enemy, you are unreliable. Turkey is unreliable insofar as its NATO obligations. It may as well withdraw from NATO and go it alone. Turkey has been an ally, but choosing to go it alone is its choice. Erdogan is like Trump – irrational, foolishly nationalist, a big mouth, consumed with being a macho man, and not a leader who benefits his country.

      Erdogan is NOT like Trump at all. According to you, others here are “irrational and uninformed”. You can talk hot shot! The attempted comparison is just plain stupid.
