Direct tank fire over entrenched positions rises lots of dust, but accomplishes nothing.
With only an hour of pounding out of a battery of 120mm mortars you really send a much better signal of “hey, why do you shoot at me? please don’t!”

Take out all Hamas positions without warning them in advance.

The battle of Ammunition Hill was also about 120mms.
Use rockets and not soldiers to take them out
