Aviv Kochavi takes reins of IDF Chief Commander

With the new rank of Lt. General, Aviv Kochavi, 55, assumes the top command of the IDF on Tuesday int a parade at IDF HQ in Tel Aviv. He comes to the job with a long record of service, including as commander of the Paratroop Brigade, the Gaza Brigade, Military Intelligence (AMAN) and the Northern Command. After the ceremonies marking his appointment, the new chief of staff will visit the Western Wall in Jerusalem, then attend the leave-taking parade in Tel Aviv honoring his predecessor, Lt. Gen. Gady Eisenkot.
